How much memory does the hierarchical clustering method require?
Answer
By default there is a limit on the maximum number of samples or variables that can be clustered in Qlucore Omics Explorer. This default setting can be changed in the File -> Preferences dialog. The limit is estimated to a number when most computers will provide an instant response.

It is possible to cluster larger data sets by changing the setting.

Memory is the most limiting factor when doing hierarchical clustering on larger data sets. The following guidelines is a rough estimate of what you can expect.

Computer with 8 GB RAM memory and only Qlucore Omics Explorer working: Maximum around 18000 variables if you have 100 samples.
Computer with 16 GB RAM memory and only Qlucore Omics Explorer working: Maximum around 30000 variables if you have 100 samples.
Computer with 32 GB RAM memory and only Qlucore Omics Explorer working: Maximum around 38000 variables if you have 100 samples.

In the File menu you can create random data sets of any size. You can use this function of you would like to test what data sizes that can be used.
